About the app

Know what’s on every drive without plugging it in.

Diskfolio indexes your external drives — USB and Thunderbolt hard drives and SSDs, SD cards, and network volumes — so their contents stay searchable and browsable on your Mac, whether or not the drive is connected.

Your Mac does the scanning. The iPhone and iPad companion syncs the same index through iCloud, so you can look up a file from anywhere. Thumbnails stay on your device unless you choose to sync them.

What it does.

• Search across every drive at once, including drives that aren’t plugged in
• Filter by file type — Photos, Videos, Documents, Audio, Archives — and sort the results
• Find duplicate files across drives and see how much space you could free
• Name, color-code, and group your drives into your own categories, and note who owns each one
• Rescans only pick up what changed, and you can exclude folders you don’t want indexed
• iPhone and iPad companion syncs your index through iCloud — browse and search anywhere
• Thumbnails are generated on your device and only sync if you opt in
